Wayne Garnons-Williams, Chair of International Inter-tribal Trade and Investment Organization (IITIO), guest lectured at Ryerson University to speak on Indigenous economic reconciliation. Garnons-Williams developed this topic by examining 4 key subtopics: (1) Indigenous Trade History, (2) Current Trade Climate and USMCA, (3) TK in IP, and (4) Emerging Economic Opportunities. Garnons-Williams explained the struggle for the recognition of Indigenous economic rights, including the right of Inter-tribal trade and the right to protect Indigenous traditional knowledge in the context to the world trade and intellectual property regimes.
